ASUS rolls out Marshmallow update to ZenFone Zoom and ZenFone Selfie

Android 6.0 Marshmallow

With the nearing launch of Android 7.0 Nougat, many manufacturers are trying to speed up their Marshmallow update roll out process. Asus has initiated the Marshmallow update roll out for its ZenFone Zoom and ZenFone Selfie smartphones.

This Marshmallow update will bring the ZenFone Zoom to firmware version 4.21.40.74 while the Zenfone Selfie will move to version 21.40.0.1692. With this update, both the smartphones will get rid of a bunch of pre-loaded apps (bloatware) such as ASUS Backup, Google Play Books, Google Play Games, Google Play Newsstand, and much more. Many new apps will surface with the new update such as Google Calendar, Google Messenger, Facebook, Instagram, and much more.

ZenFone Zoom

Being an OTA update, users will receive a notification for it. If not, then they can manually download the update from here and here.

You could use Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Messenger, Chrome and Google Play Music for relevant services. Multi-user and SnapView will not be supported. If you wish to continue to use multi-user, please keep using the current account.

ZenFone Selfie (ZD551KL)

The apps listed below will no longer be pre-loaded once your device has been upgraded to Android 6.0 (Marshmallow).
