Running is always a great way to become fit and lose some weight. There are amazing apps that will help you to keep track of all your running activities, motivate you and push you beyond your limits.
In case you need something to motivate you to go running and make the whole thing more entertaining, you should really try “Zombies, Run!”. The app will guide you through a Zombie-Apocalypse storyline where you are the play character. You will have to collect items, run away from approaching zombies and make it back to the camp in one piece. Keep in mind that if you are too slow then you will have to drop some valuable items to distract the zombies and keep them from eating you!
If you are looking for something more traditional and rather functional, go for Runkeeper. It’s a great app that will keep track of all your running activities, give you feedback while you are running and it also integrates with other great fitness apps to give you all the stats you need, wherever you need them.
Endomondo is a great app for tracking all kinds of distance-based activities, such as running, cycling or walking. The app has a lot of useful features and seamlessly integrates with MyFitnessPal, which will instantly show you how many calories you’ve burned during your workout.
At the gym progress is key. JEFIT Workout will be your personal (and portable) trainer, which will keep track of all your gym workouts, routines, weights and reps. All the exercises come with detailed descriptions. You can also choose from many community-based workout plans and routines or create your one of your own.
A large part of being fit is eating healthy and keeping track of your diet. For example, you can start with tracking your daily calorie intake. A great app that allows you to do that is MyFitnessPal. With this app you can easily track how many calories you have already consumed and how many you have left for the day. The database contains over 3 million different foods that you can choose from or simply enter the amount of calories manually.
MyFitnessPal also integrates with the above-mentioned sports and exercise trackers, which will automatically show how many calories you’ve burned during the day.
Some of you might just want to keep track of your weight without entering all the calories or tracking your workouts. Just keepin’ it simple. Of course, there is an app for you! As the name already suggests, Monitor Your Weight will allow you to do exactly that in a very simple way. Just enter your starting weight, your goal and when you want to achieve it.
Now you can simply enter your weight on a regular (maybe even daily) basis and look at your results on a simple graph, which will also show you whether you are on track or if you are going way too fast, almost starving yourself to death. Don’t do that…
Feeling lousy all day? Chances are that you aren’t sleeping well enough! Getting quality sleep at night is also a major part of being healthy and will ensure that you have enough energy during the day.
There are two apps (depending on the platform you’re using) that will keep track of your sleep cycles and measure the quality of your sleep: Sleep As Android (for Android) and Sleep Cycle (for iOS). The apps are using your phone’s built-in accelerometer, which will measure your movements during your sleep if you place it next to your pillow. The fewer movements the deeper you are sleeping.
You will see all the collected data on a simple graph that will help you to figure out what causes you to sleep well and what keeps you half-awake at night.
25% of all the people who make New Year’s resolutions don’t make it even through the first week of January! Apps are a great way to keep you motivated and keep track of certain parts of your healthy lifestyle, such as tracking workouts, calories or even your sleep.
