Even though search history helps us in finding the right stuff as it is unique to our keywords and trends, but it becomes problematic when others use your device as well. In this article, we will show you a variety of ways to remove your Google search history on various platforms.

How to delete Google search history on a computer:

  1. Go to Google’s Web History/Activity page
  2. Log in to your Google account
  3. You will see various options for deleting Google search history. You can also delete your history for a certain period or you can wipe the whole thing entirely.

Delete Individual Items from Google’s Web Activity page

On Google’s Web History/Activity page you will also find a list of day-by-day entries. Click on the “Older” button at the end of the list to check past searches.   1. Select the entries you want to remove by checking the box in front of them.
  2. After selecting the entries, click on “Remove items” button to wipe them out from the database.

Delete the Entire Search History from Google’s Web Activity page

You can also delete the entire search history from Google. Here is how you can do it in a jiffy:

  1. Go to Google’s Web Activity page 
  2. Click on “Delete Activity By” option on the left menu
  3. Select “All Time” under “Date” option
  4. Select “All item” under “Product” option
  5. Click on “Delete” button for total wipeout

To stop Google from tracking your search history, you can “Turn off” your search history. Here is how you can do it:

  1. Go to Google’s Web Activity page
  2. Click on “Activity Controls” from the left menu
  3. In front of Web & App Activity option – Drag the slider left to turn off tracking entirely
  4. Click on the “Pause” button on the Pause Web & App Activity prompt window (as shown in the image above)

How to remove your search history on Android & iOS

Deleting your search history on smartphones is also pretty easy. Below, we have listed out ways to delete history on Android and iOS.

Remove entire history in Safari

  1. Go to Settings on your iPhone or iPad
  2. Tap on Safari
  3. Select Clear History and Website Data to delete history and cookies
  4. To eliminate other saved information, Go to Settings > Safari > Advanced > Website Data > Remove All Website Data

  1. Open Safari on your iPhone or iPad
  2. Tap on the Bookmarks icon on the top left corner
  3. Select History from the given options
  4. Tap on Clear and select the items you want to remove or you can also delete pages visited in the last hour/day/48 hours/All time

How to remove your search history on Android

To clear entire browsing history on Chrome for Android

  1. Open Chrome on your Android device
  2. At the top right, tap Options button (3 vertical dots)
  3. Select “History”
  4. At the bottom, click on “Clear Browsing Data.”
  5. In the prompt box, make sure to tick the box next to “Browsing history.”
  6. Tap “Clear data.”

To clear selective browsing history on Chrome

  1. Open Chrome app on your device
  2. At the top right, tap Options button
  3. Select “History.”
  4. Find items you want to delete and tap on “Remove”

Remove predictions on Mac & PC

  1. Open Chrome
  2. Type the suggestion you want to delete
  3. Highlight the URL you want to remove by using your keyboard down arrow
  4. To remove the suggestion Press Shift + Delete (for Windows); Press Shift + fn + Delete (for Mac)

Remove URL predictions On Android

  1. Open Chrome app on your device
  2. Type the suggestion you want to delete
  3. Press and hold the suggestion
  4. Tap “OK” in the prompt window

  1. Open Chrome app on your iOS device
  2. Type the suggestion you want to remove.
  3. Swipe left and click “Delete”

Deleting search history from Google Search, Maps, Google Now & other products

  2. Click on “Delete Activity By” option on the left menu
  3. Click the “Product” option
  4. Select Google Products YouTube, Chrome, Maps, and other
  5. Click on “Delete” button for removing history from all the selected products

How let’s talk about Chrome’s older brothers…

Delete Firefox browser history

  1. Open the Firefox browser.
  2. Press Ctrl + Shift + Del to open history
  3. Select option as per time range you want to remove
  4. Check the items you want to delete (you can select all)
  5. Click on the “Clear Now” button

Delete Internet Explorer browser history

  1. Open the Microsoft Internet Explorer browser
  2. Press Ctrl + Shift + Del to open Browsing History
  3. Check the items you want to delete (you can select all)
  4. Click on Delete

Delete Opera browser history

  1. Open the Opera browser
  2. Click on the Menu button in the top left corner
  3. Select history from the drop-down menu
  4. Click “Clear browsing data”
  5. To delete the entire history – select “beginning of time” from the options
  6. Check the boxes and click on “Clear browsing data”

If you frequently remove your Internet browser history, you may want to switch to incognito mode on your browser (private mode in Safari)
