AMD’s next-gen RX 7900 XTX will be out in a while

AMD is up to launch their new next-generation Radeon RX 7900 XTX next month. The company has already shared its details related to pricing, performance, and its new giant RDNA GPU architecture. It will power all types of graphics cards. The hype is quite high regarding the launch.

The Radeon RX 7900 XT is the first product to be released at the high end. On December 13th, AMD will introduce both of these GPUs, with the 7900 XTX starting at $999 and the XT starting at $899. Nvidia’s RTX 4000 series, which starts at $1,599 for the top-tier GeForce RTX 4090 and $1,199 for the RTX 4080, is undercut by both of these price tags. So what are the unique features of the new Radeon RX 7900 XT? Let’s see.

Radeon RX 7900 Series Graphics Cards

According to AMD, the Radeon RX 7900 Series is the highest-performing gaming graphics card in the market, unlocking new levels of efficiency and speed as well as delivering several new and enhanced features that enhance the gaming experience.

In some games, the AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX graphics card outperforms the Radeon RX 6950 XT graphics card by up to 1.7X, while the RX 7900 XT offers up to 1.5X more performance. The essential traits consist of:

AMD RDNA 3 Architecture: Compared to AMD RDNA 2, AMD RDNA 3 offers up to 54% greater performance per watt and has a new chipset design, compute units, and second-generation AMD Infinity Cache technology.

Chiplet Design: The first gaming GPU in the world with a chipset design with 54% more power efficiency and 15% higher frequencies. The basic GPU capabilities are provided by the new 5nm, 306mm2 Graphics Compute Die (GCD), which supports up to 96 compute units. Additionally, it contains six Memory Cache Die (MCD) with a size of 37.5mm2 (6nm) and up to 16MB of second-generation AMD Infinity Cache.

High-Performance Fanout Packaging and AMD Infinity Links enable the second-generation AMD Infinity Cache chipsets to provide up to 5.3 TB/s of bandwidth.

Expanded Memory and Wider Memory Bus: To tackle today’s demanding games, the new graphics cards include up to 24GB of 20Gbps GDDR6 memory on a 384-bit memory bus.

Dedicated AI Acceleration and Second-Generation Raytracing: The AMD RDNA 2 architecture is 2.7X faster than the first generation, while second-generation raytracing is 1.8X faster than the first generation thanks to new AI instructions and increased AI throughput.

Support for DisplayPort 2.1 technology: UHBR 13.5 supports DisplayPort 2.1 technology, providing up to 54 Gbps of display connection bandwidth for high-refresh 4K (480 Hz) or 8K (165 Hz) games on next-generation panels.

New AMD Radiance Display Engine: Compared to AMD’s RDNA 2 architecture, the new AMD Radiance Display Engine supports DisplayPort 2.1 and HDMI 2.1a and delivers 12-bit-per-channel color for up to 68 billion colors.

High-Refresh Gaming: DisplayPort 2.1 enables displays at refresh rates of 900Hz, 480Hz, and 165Hz for 1440p, 4K, and 8K resolutions.

Dual Media Engine: Provides up to 1.8X more engine frequency than AMD’s RDNA 2 architecture by supporting simultaneous HEVC encode/decode streams up to 8K60 and AV1 encode11.

Advantages of AMD’s next-gen RX 7900 XTX

AMD Smart Access Memory and AMD SmartAccess Video, which dynamically distribute decoding and encoding operations among AMD Ryzen CPUs and AMD Radeon graphics cards to accelerate 4K multi-stream encoding by up to 30%, will be included in AMD Advantage-certified PCs.

  • Great performance, excellent graphics, and displays with AMD FreeSync Premium are all features of desktops with AMD Advantage.
  • High-quality chassis, CPU liquid cooling, at least 2TB of NVMe SSD storage, 32GB or more of DDR5 AMD EXPO memory17, 80+ Gold power supply, ideal acoustics, and simple customization make them specifically designed for gaming.
  • Major SI partners CSL, Cyberpower, eBuyer, Falcon Northwest, Maingear, Origin PC, and XIdax will soon offer desktop PCs with AMD Advantage.

Beginning on December 13, 2022, AMD.com will sell AMD Radeon RX 7900 Series graphics cards. By mid-December, these partners will also sell them, including ASUS, ASRock, Biostar, Gigabyte, MSI, Sapphire, PowerColor, Vastarmor, XFX, and Yeston.
