Does MSI gf63 a Good Laptop

Does MSI gf63 a Good Laptop, this bundle is mostly good, although it does have some drawbacks. Despite the fact that most low-cost gaming laptops struggle to render modern games in their native resolution and at the highest possible detail settings, they still offer an excellent value for the money. The GF63 Thin 9SC from MSI is a reasonably priced example of this type. MSI’s GF63 Thin 9SC is designed for casual gamers who don’t need or want to spend more than $1,000 on a laptop. In comparison to other 15-inch laptops, this one is thin and light, coming in at just 2.2 centimetres (0.9 inches) in thickness and weighing 1.8 kilogrammes (3.9 pounds). It features Intel’s Core i5-9300H quad-core processor, 8 GB of DDR4 RAM (single channel), and a 512 GB solid-state drive (SSD), making it a solid choice of components. The graphics processing unit is a Max-Q variant of the midrange GeForce GTX 1650, which consumes significantly less power. It has a matte IPS display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels for seeing the images it creates.

Similar 15-inch laptops to the GF63 9SC include the Dell G5 15 5590, the Acer Aspire Nitro 5 AN515, the HP Omen 15, and the Lenovo IdeaPad L340-15IRH, all of which include the Core i5-9300H and a “regular” GeForce GTX 1650 as its graphics processing units. This assessment also includes these laptops for purposes of comparison.

Since the chassis, connections, and controls are all identical to the previous generation (Core i5-8300H and GeForce GTX 1050), we won’t go into detail about them here. If you need a refresher on this material, please consult the work of your immediate predecessor. With a starting price of $899 in the US and £699 in the UK, the MSI GF63 Thin 11UC is one of the cheapest gaming laptops on the market. Those figures will get anyone’s attention, but cheap prices often come at the expense of quality in both design and components.

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 graphics core may be underwhelming, but it’s more than adequate for 1080p resolution. Equally reliable is the Core i5-11400H CPU.

The market for inexpensive gaming laptops is crowded, so we put the MSI GF63 Thin 11UC through its paces to see whether or not it deserves to be on sale alongside its competition.

Design & Build

  • Stylish for a budget model
  • Only 21.7mm thick
  • 1.86kg

MSI’s setup is more stylish than its price tag indicates, thanks to details like the brushed metal chassis and the red keyboard border and logos that give the GF63 a unified design. In comparison to the military-themed Asus TUF Gaming A15 and the bulky Acer Nitro 5, this one is the more refined and sophisticated option. Unless you’re ready to spend significantly more, only the Dell G5 15 Gaming comes close to competing.

The GF63 weighs in at 1.86 kilogrammes, which is impressively light, and its body is 21.7 millimetres thick, which is also noteworthy given that most of its competitors weigh more than 2 kilogrammes and are at least 25 millimetres thick.

While the MSI is quite lightweight and compact, it is not particularly durable. The display shakes, the plastic base wiggles too much, and the metal frame above the keyboard bends. It’s not a major concern if you’re using the MSI inside, but you should probably put it in a protective sleeve before using it anywhere else.

The GF63 Thin contains one full-size USB 3.2 Gen 1 connector on the left edge, and two more full-size USB connections and Gigabit Ethernet on the right edge. There’s a dual-band Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 radio inside, as well as an HDMI 2.0 port on the back. The 720p webcam lacks Windows Hello compatibility and is the final component of the chassis.

Although the lack of a card reader and Thunderbolt isn’t a deal breaker for casual gamers, there are plenty of alternative laptops that offer additional ports. The Dell features a fingerprint reader and HDMI 2.1; the Asus has two USB-C ports; the Acer offers quicker USB connectivity; and the Asus has both.

Keyboard & Trackpad

In place of the usual RGB LEDs, this keyboard just has a single red backlighting zone and no number pad. Though it lacks showiness, the hardware has proven to be extremely effective in tests. The buttons are responsive and somewhat sharp, making them suitable for most games.

However, the buttons on the Asus are crisper and there is a number pad, while those on the Acer are too mushy and on the Dell, although there are RGB LEDs, the action feels hollow. The MSI holds its own in this respect.

Though the trackpad’s buttons are responsive, their size prevents them from being ideal for gaming. Naturally, even if you only spent 10 pounds or dollars on a USB mouse, it would completely change the way you play.

Screen & Speakers

  • Full HD IPS panel
  • 144Hz refresh rate
  • Poor performance elsewhere

The 15.6-inch display is par for the course in this price range, thus it is an IPS screen with Full HD resolution and a refresh rate of 144 hertz.

However, the quality suffers due to financial constraints. If you’re not in direct sunlight from a nearby window, the maximum brightness of 227 nits is adequate for indoor use but not for use outside. The 946:1 contrast ratio is just about adequate for casual gaming but falls short of providing the kind of vivid detail and depth you’d see with a higher ratio.

Displaying only 58.1% of the sRGB colour space, the panel has a low delta E of 4.86, meaning it won’t create many of the vivid colours required for gaming.

This display is comparable to the Acer and is capable of handling casual gaming even if games only look flat and uninspiring. In contrast, the Asus and Dell laptops stand out for their vivid colours and designs.

Meanwhile, the speakers are adequate, if a bit tinny at higher frequencies and lacking in bass when used for gaming. However, the audio quality of a gaming headset will always be superior.

FAQs:

Q1: Is MSI GF63 good?

The MSI GF63 Thin is a budget laptop with a good keyboard and a sleek, lightweight design that can run mainstream and eSports games at medium settings. There are competitors that offer higher performance in some areas, but if you plan on using it for work and then playing games in the evening, it’s a good buy.

Q2: Is MSI GF63 good for graphics?

You may get a lot of bang for your buck with the GF63, as it provides top-notch performance for a laptop. However, it has a lacklustre screen, and serious gamers who want to play the latest games on high settings will need to invest in a laptop with a more potent GPU than a 1050Ti.

Q3: Are MSI laptops reliable?

Because of their sturdy construction and high-grade parts, MSI laptops are consistently dependable. All of the accessories and software offered by the company are great if you’re in the market for a laptop specifically designed for gaming. MSI strikes a nice balance between performance, quality of construction, and cost.

Q4: Is MSI a good brand?

In 2018, MSI not only climbed out of the double digits, but also vaulted itself into the top five best laptop companies. The company hasn’t just upgraded the quality of its gaming laptops; it has also broadened the range of its flagship models and rethought their layout.

Q5: How about gaming on the MSI GF63?

This laptop is recommended for playing the most popular PC games, including Fortnite, Minecraft, and PUBG.
