How to enable OK Google commands everywhere on Android without root

Android 4.4 has an amazing feature – you can talk to your phone and get answers to most of your questions just by saying “OK Google” followed by your question. But when this feature was just released, you could only use voice commands with the Google Experience Launcher or with Google Now open.

Luckily, with the last Google Search app update, you can now use Google Now voice commands from any screen you want, with any launcher you want. And even from your lockscreen!

Just follow these simple steps and you will be able to talk to your device no matter what screen or launcher.

4 steps to enable Android voice commands on every screen

Go ahead and launch Google Now, scroll down and press the menu icon. Go to Settings > Voice > “OK Google” Detection. Now you can choose where you want to use Google Now voice commands. It’s easy as that.

If, for some reason, you don’t see these options in your settings, try updating your Google Search Android app to the latest version and you’ll be good to go.
