This one is the easiest. Almost all Android phones give you the ability to block someone’s number directly via the Phone app. Here is a short guide on how to do it.

  1. Open your Phone app
  2. Tap “More options”
  3. Tap “Settings”

This is an easy way, and as I already mentioned, it should work for most Android devices. In case your phone does not give you this option, do not get desperate yet! There are several other ways to try.

How to block a number on your stock Android phone?

What is a stock Android phone? It’s a phone using an unmodified version of Android software. For example, if you have a Google Pixel 4, 4XL, 4a, or 5, that’s a stock Android phone. Also, as stock Androids are considered the newest Nokia phones, Moto One, Xiaomi Mi A3, etc. They are sometimes considered better to use because the latest Android features are first available for stock Android phones and only later for other devices, such as Samsung or LG.

So, if you have any stock Android phones, this is how you can block the number.

  1. Open Phone app
  2. In the Call log, choose the number you want to block
  3. Long press on this number and select the option “Block number.”

There is another way to block numbers on these devices. Go to the Phone app, click “Menu,” and select “Settings.” Tap on “Call blocking” and select all the numbers you want to block. Here, you will have to option to stop all the calls coming from unknown numbers, too!

Here, I’d like to show you how to block a number on few different Android devices. As already mentioned, you can try doing it via the Phone app. In case it doesn’t work, here is a short guide for several Android manufacturers.

Samsung phone

In case you have a Samsung phone, you can block the number via Call Log following the steps below.

  • Open the “Phone” app
  • Find the contact you want to block in Recent calls
  • Click on “Details”
  • Tap “Block number”

Huawei phone 

If you have a Huawei device, here is how you can block the number via the Contacts app.

  • Open the “Contacts” app
  • Find the number you want to block
  • Press long and tap on “Block contact.”

That’s it; you won’t be able to receive phone calls and SMS from this number again.

Xiaomi

If you have Xiaomi MIUI 10 or newer, here is how to block the number on your phone.

  • Open Phone dialer
  • Find the number you want to block in the “Recent” call log
  • Press long and tap on “Block/report spam”

One of the most popular Android phones nowadays is definitely the OnePlus. Here is how to block numbers on your OnePlus device.

  • Tap Phone icon
  • Click on “Call history”
  • Long press the number you want to block and tap on “Block”
  • Confirm with “Block” again

In case you want to switch your phones and not worry about annoying phone calls ever again, or you just want to make sure that you will not have to deal with calls from the specified number again, you can ask your service provider for help. All the biggest US service providers are allowing you this option. You can give them a call, explain the situation, and they will provide you with a list of Terms & Conditions you need to fulfill to be entitled to block any phone number.

If the number you’ve previously blocked is leaving you voice messages, and your phone does not automatically block this option as well, there is a way for you to stop it manually. Many Android phones have a built-in feature that blocks voicemail and SMS as well as phone calls the moment you block the number itself.

Block the number on social messaging apps as well

If you wish to get rid of unwanted calls and messages, besides standard blocking phone calls and SMS, you should take care of your social networks as well. To be fully protected, make sure to block the contact on WhatsApp, Viber, Telegram, or any other social messaging app that you have. Only this way, you will be completely safe!

Unblocking the number

If, in the future, you change your mind, do not worry. The action is reversible, meaning that at any time you can unblock the number you’ve previously blocked. If you decide to unblock it, automatically you will unblock phone calls, SMS, and voice messages.
