Apple's M3 chip is still a ways off. It's in development and rumoured to use TSMC's 3-nanometer chip design.
TSMC's 5-nanometer technology powers M-series chips, but 3-nanometers will boost power and efficiency. TSMC is designing 3-nanometer chips.
If Apple keeps this chip naming scheme, entry-level Macs could get M3 chips, while higher-end Macs could get M3 Pro and M3 Max chips with up to 40 compute cores.
The M3 chip may arrive in 2023 Macs, but we don't know when. Early 2023 may see the first Macs.
It is possible that this will begin with the Mac Pro, but it is not yet known whether or not this product will use an M3 chip.
