With Xbox Cloud Gaming, you can play Fortnite for free on iOS, iPad, Android phones and tablets, and Windows PC.
This implies that starting today, you just need two things to play Fortnite in cloud-supported markets:
An account with Microsoft
Xbox cloud gaming
- A phone or tablet running iOS, iPadOS, Android, or Windows with internet connectivity
- To party up with friends or earn your next Victory Royale in Fortnite, simply head to Xbox.com/play on your web browser and login in with your Microsoft Account.
- It’s simple to get into Fortnite with Xbox Cloud Gaming, whether you want to play with native touch controls or a compatible controller.
As we continue our cloud journey, adding a Free-to-Play title to the cloud gaming catalogue is a significant milestone. We’re starting with Fortnite and plan to add other popular free-to-play games in the future. We want to make gaming accessible to the world’s 3 billion gamers, and cloud plays a critical role in that effort. Simply put, we want you to have more options in terms of the games you play and how you play them.
Troubleshoot legacy network issues
If you’re on a Wi-Fi network, make sure it’s a 5 GHz network rather than a 2.4 GHz network (you may see interference on a 2.4 GHz network). See “Using a 5 GHz Wi-Fi Network” below for more information. If you try to cast your device to another screen, the output will have more latency, which can cause lag or audio that is out of sync.
Clear the app cache if you’re using an Android device. Select the Xbox Game Pass app in Settings > Apps, then Storage > Clear Cache. Using a USB cable, connect your controller straight to your device. See “Using a personalised DNS” below if you’ve updated your DNS settings.
If your device has the option to switch to Best Performance Mode, turning it on may improve your cloud gaming experience.
If available, a wired connection (i.e., Ethernet) is the best option for network quality. When you use a mobile hotspot to connect to the internet for cloud gaming, you may experience greater slowness or audio that is out of sync.
If others on the same network connection are using high-bandwidth apps like video streaming or multiplayer gaming, your cloud gaming experience may be harmed. Your device may change connections between cell towers if you’re utilising cloud gaming while in transit, which can compromise performance.

Games are saved and executed remotely on a provider’s specialised hardware and streamed as video to a player’s device via client software, similar to remote desktops and video on demand services.
Q4: How come Xbox Cloud Gaming is so sluggish?
If anything else is sucking up your bandwidth, it doesn’t matter how fast your connection is. Too many users on your network might cause latency issues, and your device could be downloading items you’re not aware of. Any apps that are consuming bandwidth should be paused or stopped
Q5: What can I do to improve my Xbox cloud games?
How To Use Xbox Cloud Gaming’s Clarity Boost

Q6: For cloud gaming, what is a good ping?
Ping is the time it takes for an online gamer to travel back and forth from a cloud-based gaming server. If your ping is greater than 80 milliseconds, you’re playing with a disadvantage. The higher the ping, the more likely you are to lose, regardless of how well you play.
