Ringg, an Indian voice AI startup, announced today it has secured $10 million in funding from Peak XV Partners to expand its capabilities beyond traditional phone calls.

Ringg Secures $10 Million in Funding to Expand Voice AI Capabilities

The investment from Peak XV Partners serves as an extension of Ringg’s Series A funding round. This latest infusion brings the total capital raised in its Series A to $15.5 million, following an initial $5.5 million secured earlier this year.

Ringg currently processes approximately 20 million call attempts per month and anticipates this volume will continue to grow.

This funding will support Ringg’s strategy to leverage voice AI for more complex enterprise workflows. The company aims to scale its operations and enhance its technology to meet the increasing demand for automated customer interactions.

The startup’s expansion comes at a time when voice communication remains a preferred method for consumers interacting with businesses. This trend presents a significant opportunity for voice AI solutions to automate support and outreach efforts effectively.

Ringg’s Evolution from Text-to-Speech to Enterprise Voice AI

Ringg’s journey began as DesiVocal, a text-to-speech startup. The founders found that training proprietary speech models was prohibitively expensive. This led them to pivot their focus and develop voice AI agents tailored for enterprise use.

“At the start, we were doing high-volume, low-complexity use cases like outbound calling, lead qualification, loan collection, and more. We quickly realized these are not sticky use cases, and so it’s always going to be a price game,” explained Siddharth Tripathi, co-founder of Ringg.

While Ringg still supports some of these initial, less complex applications, its strategic direction is now geared towards higher-value tasks. The company is positioning itself as a platform that delivers tangible outcomes for businesses.

This evolution reflects a broader industry shift towards AI agents that can handle intricate workflows and provide consistent, high-quality results for customers.

Key Use Cases and Customer Traction for Ringg

Indian fintech company Cred was Ringg’s inaugural customer. Since then, the startup has expanded its client base to include prominent Indian companies such as Flipkart, Practo, Groww, and PolicyBazaar. Ringg’s voice agents are actively deployed across various sectors.

For the healthcare app Practo, Ringg’s voice agent manages interactions at 1,200 clinics. These interactions assist patients with booking appointments and following up on post-visit instructions. This demonstrates the agent’s capacity for complex, multi-step workflows.

Ringg is also automating browser-based support requests for clients like Shell. This expansion into non-voice channels indicates the startup’s adaptability and growing service portfolio.

Currently, over 70% of Ringg’s business is still voice-based, but the company is actively developing capabilities for chat and WhatsApp interactions to broaden its reach.

Ringg’s Strategic Partnerships and Market Position in Voice AI

Ringg aims to partner with Global Capability Centers (GCCs) in India, which are offshore hubs for multinational corporations providing back-office and support services. The strategy involves offering automation capacity alongside human support resources.

Rishen Kapoor, a principal at Peak XV, highlighted Ringg’s technical depth, stemming from its origins as a research lab that built its own models. This foundation enables the company to tackle complex enterprise workflows effectively.

“Because of the technical capabilities, they can actually do these hard-won enterprise workflows end to end. They can complete these higher-value tasks like merchant onboarding, like L1 and L2 support, with quality and with consistency,” Kapoor stated.

Ringg currently employs 40 individuals, with more than 15 new hires in the past three months. The company is actively recruiting for roles in engineering and research to further develop its AI models and reduce operational costs.
