OPPO Find X5 Pro 5G: A True Rival To Other Flagship with Display and Camera

Oppo Find X5 ProReview. It’s a high-end Android phone, but the cost is prohibitive.

With its new Find X5 Pro, Oppo joins an ever-growing list of high-end smartphones that cost under $1,260. There is a four-figure price tag attached to this phone, which necessitates a top-of-the-line processor, large fast-charging battery (5000mAh), 120Hz AMOLED screen, and camera system co-designed by Hasselblad with a custom imaging NPU chip, all of which make it sound enticing to potential purchasers.

How does this flagship phone fare when thoroughly tested?

Oppo Find X5 Pro’s camera array sits in a raised, irregularly shaped section that appears to have been sculpted out of the chassis rather than being fitted into a cut-hole, as is more commonly the case. This moulded method was discussed in our Oppo Find X3 Pro review from last year. X5 Pro is the successor to the X4 line, as Oppo has dropped the X4.

With this new model, the camera bump has been tweaked in an effort to make it easier for users to take photos or record video while holding the phone. Even though ergonomics were unaffected, I found it to be a welcome visual variation from rectilinear or circular forms.

Oppo previously used a glass back for the Find X3 Pro, but this time the company has opted for ceramic. When dropped, this substance is more durable than glass, increasing the phone’s chances of survival. Oppo supplied me the black backplate, but it’s also available in Ceramic White.

Even though it’s sturdy, the ceramic back makes the phone slide around on my hardwood desk, despite the flat surface. In the end, it dropped into my chair or onto the carpet because it had little chance of staying on my comfortable arm. Regular drops onto concrete or tiled floors could damage the ceramic or screen’s Gorilla Glass Victus protection.

The Find X5 Pro’s dust and water resistance is rated at IP68, which means it can withstand drops onto hard surfaces.

That said, the ceramic is a total fingerprint magnet! It’s impossible to use the phone without smudging the glossy finish, therefore the phone loses all of its appeal. To add weight, ceramic is used in place of glass. The Find X5 Pro is 73.9mm wide by 163.7mm deep by 8.5mm thick and weighs 218g, for the record.

The power button, which has a lovely splash of emerald green incorporated in it, is on the right, with two modest volume control buttons on the left. The fingerprint sensor is built into the display, and it functioned well with both face login and fingerprint login.

The 6.7-inch AMOLED screen is encased in thin bezels, but the bottom one is substantially deeper than the top. The Honor Magic 4 Pro’s 93.5 percent screen-to-body ratio beats out this device’s 92.7 percent promise. Even still, like with other high-end smartphones, the two gadgets have a lot in common. HDR and an LTPO-controlled 120Hz refresh rate that dynamically changes down to 1Hz are among them. With its 20:9 aspect ratio, the Find X5 Pro’s screen has a slightly higher resolution than the Honor Magic 4 Pro’s 1312 by 2848 pixel density (460ppi).

Oppo’s display settings are just like those of other manufacturers, with controls for colour mode, sharpness, and tones. The Honor Magic 4 Pro’s monochrome eBook mode is the only one that can compete with the eye-comfort mode. That’s unfortunate, but the Oppo Find X5 Pro isn’t alone in this.

Located on the handset’s bottom edge and front, respectively, are two speakers. The volume rises quite a bit, although it distorts a bit at the top.. Some audio genres may find this phone useful for speaker use despite its lack of bass tones, but it’s also ideal for listening to spoken word and listening to high-frequency music.

Snapdragon 845, coupled with 12GB of RAM, powers the Oppo Find X5 Pro, making it a flagship-class device. With strong Geekbench 5 CPU scores of 1002 (single core) and 3285 (multi core), it should come as no surprise that the Honor Magic 4 Pro and Poco F4 GT, both of which are aimed at gamers, outperformed these (1251 and 3725).

There’s a total of 256GB of internal storage, but just 28GB of it was used right out of the box, leaving 228GB available for future expansion. SIM caddy, which fits on the bottom of the phone, can hold two 5G SIM cards.

To get the most out of your phone, ColorOS 12.1 adds a wide range of customization choices to Android 12. You can either drag an app or tool to a floating window or configure it as part of a split screen by using these features. In many ways, this is the same concept Honor uses in the Magic 4 Pro, albeit with a somewhat different aesthetic. You can also use ‘air gestures,’ where you simply wave your hand over the screen to take calls or scroll through the content, on the Oppo.

A number of third-party apps, including the typical suspects in social networking and several recognised shopping applications, are being marketed by Oppo, which is unfortunate. Fortunately, these programmes can be deleted when no longer needed, which is a source of aggravation.

There are three cameras on the back of the phone: 50MP f/1.7 wide angle, 50MP f/2.2 ultra-wide angle, and 13MP f/2.4 telephoto.

While this is going on, a 32-megapixel front-facing camera with an f/2.4 aperture can be found in a cut-out. On top left of the screen. According to Oppo, this camera can automatically convert between an 80- and 90-degree field of vision based. On the number of people trying to fit in the shot. To my disappointment. I discovered that I had to manually switch modes by using an on-screen button. Even if you don’t use the manual toggle. Having it there gives you a bit more freedom when it comes to framing your selfies.

The MariSilicon X NPU is a specialised image processing chip by Oppo. According to Oppo, its main advantage is that it increases low-light performance. When I used it, it worked okay, but it wasn’t spectacular. But keep in mind that the main 50MP wide-angle camera is the only one with 5-axis OIS stabilisation, which comes in helpful while shooting at low light levels.

The overall quality of point-and-shoot photography was excellent, with crisp, sharp photos and excellent colour reproduction. To be honest, we’re a little disappointed that the FindX3 Pro didn’t have the Microlens that provided a 60x zoom.

There is no connection between the Hasselblad branding on the package and the rear of the phone and the camera’s lens technology. Using an on-screen toggle, you can shoot in either colour or monochrome with Hasselblad’s 65:24 aspect ratio XPan mode.

Conclusion:

Video zooming using the rear camera can achieve 4K resolution at 30fps and 60fps, much as non-zoomed video. 1080p slow motion can only be achieved at 240 frames per second, whereas video recorded at 720 frames per second can only be achieved at 480 frames per second. The selfie camera’s zoom range is restricted to 1080p at 30fps.

In the case of a flagship-class phone, you should expect nothing less than a 5000mAh battery. I tried multiple times to run the PCMark for Android Work 3.0 battery life test, but the phone refused to cooperate. Nevertheless, I can say from experience that the phone has a day’s worth of battery life when used in the typical way. The Oppo Find X5 Pro lost 17 percent of its charge during my three-hour YouTube binge, suggesting a battery life of roughly 17.6 hours.
