Everyone who uses Windows eventually encounters the BSOD issue, sometimes known as the blue screen of death. It’s a bothersome issue since it can occur at any time and is frequently difficult to troubleshoot. We’ll go through some fundamental instructions for fixing a blue screen on Windows.

Bridge.sys, commonly known as the MAC Bridge Driver, is a Windows driver that is loaded with the tunneling software for MAC bridge ports used for sharing internet connections, such as WiFi and 3G networks.

Multiple internet adapters can be joined together and shared a single internet connection using this system driver file. Despite being created by Microsoft, this file is not a Windows core file. If the computer no longer supports or uses internet connection sharing, this file can be safely uninstalled without causing any damage to the operating system.

Bridge.sys is located inside the driver subfolder of System 32 of Windows folder inside the local hard drive directory. When running, the file is approximately 71 KB in size and does not display any visible windows. This system file can also automatically connect to a network and read data from peripherals or hardware attached to the computer.

When this occurs, Windows displays a blue screen containing information about the problem before restarting. The Bridge.sys system The Bridge.sys driver is causing a blue screen, which is a Windows system stop error.

How Can I Fix a Windows Blue Screen Caused by Bridge.sys?

Users can suffer significant consequences as a result of BSOD errors, including the loss of unsaved data, application crashes, and productivity loss. Bridge.sys blue screens are sometimes caused by outdated or corrupted drivers, which can cause conflicts with other drivers and the operating system. This article will provide solutions to Bridge.sys Blue Screen problems in Windows.

Method 1: Repair Damaged System Files

Commands from the Command Prompt can be used to fix corrupt system files:

  • Open Command Prompt as administrator
  • Enter the command sfc /scannow after using it.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Use the following command lines, pressing Enter after each, and see if SFC gave an error:
    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Method 2. Install Windows Updates

  • To open the Run box, press the Windows key + R.
  • Enter the text ms-settings:windowsupdate into the text box.
  • Click the Check for updates button
  • If there is a fresh update, select Download & Install all.
  • Restart your computer after the process is finished and check to see if the problem is fixed.

Method 3: Uninstall applications

The problem is most likely caused by incompatible software, such as an old program or third-party antivirus. To resolve this issue, try uninstalling any unnecessary apps or software you recently installed by following these steps:

  • Open Settings.
  • Select System.
  • Select Apps & features.
  • Choose the app and press the Uninstall button.
  • To complete the uninstall, follow the on-screen instructions.
  • Repeat the steps to remove any software that may be causing the issue.

After successfully upgrading to the latest version of Windows, you can reinstall the apps, and they should function normally.

Method 4: Uninstall device drivers

The steps below can be used to uninstall a driver if the stop error appears after installation:

  • Use the Windows key + X keyboard shortcut to open the Power User menu.
  • Click on Device Manager.
  • Expand the device causing the problem.
  • Right-click the device and select Uninstall.
  • To confirm, click OK.

As an alternative, it is occasionally feasible to go back to an earlier version of the driver to check whether that version resolves the problem. You can follow the same steps as before, but on step No. 4 choose Properties, then, if necessary, click the Roll Back Driver button on the Driver tab.

Method 5: Uninstall software

Additionally, a BSOD can show each time you attempt to launch an app that you recently installed but is incompatible with the current version of Windows 10. Check the help section of your software provider’s website to see if there is a new version or upgrade you can download and install on your computer to fix this issue.

If no new update is available, you must uninstall the application in question by taking the following actions:

  • Open Settings.
  • Select System.
  • Select Applications & Features.
  • Click the Uninstall button after selecting the app.
  • To finish the uninstall procedure, adhere to the on-screen instructions.

Method 6: Unplug non-essential Hardware

After connecting new hardware to your computer, you may experience a blue screen. When this occurs, the issue could be that the device is incompatible, broken, or that the OS is attempting to install the incorrect driver.

If you’re attempting to connect an old device, it’s most likely incompatible with Windows 10. You can check the support website of your hardware manufacturer to see if it is compatible. If not, you may need to look for a newer model or a suitable replacement.

Method 5. Update Drivers

This problem could be brought on by outdated drivers. If this is the case, you may automatically fix it by running DriverFix, which will search your computer for outdated and missing device drivers. You can also manually update them:

  • Open Settings
  • Click on Update & Security
  • Click on Windows Update
  • Click the Check for updates button
  • Click the View optional updates option
  • Select the Update Drivers tab.
  • Choose the driver that needs updating.
  • Select “Download and Install.”

After checking for updates, if the View optional updates link is not present, Windows Update is not currently offering any new drivers or updates for other products.

Method 6. Update BIOS

Numerous problems could arise as a result of erroneous BIOS updating. Therefore, if you are a novice computer user, we advise delegating this task to someone with greater IT expertise.

  • Type in System Information in Windows search and hit Enter
  • Note information next to BaseBoard Product and BIOS Version/Date.
  • Open your web browser and visit the official site of your motherboard manufacturer
  • Go to the Downloads area.
  • Download the appropriate version of BIOS for your motherboard and launch the installer
  • Once finished, restart your computer.
