Core Ultra X: Intel’s New Gaming CPU Branding
The leak indicates that Intel’s most advanced chips will carry the Core Ultra X label, signaling a focus on premium gaming performance. While it’s not yet clear if the Core Ultra X branding will extend to desktop CPUs, Intel appears committed to positioning these processors at the top of its laptop lineup. These chips are expected to compete directly with AMD’s latest offerings, which have recently gained attention for their 3D V-cache technology.
Leaked Intel Panther Lake CPU Details
According to Videocardz, the four Core Ultra X CPUs will be reserved for premium gaming laptops:
- Intel Core Ultra 9 X338H
- Intel Core Ultra 7 X368H
- Intel Core Ultra 7 X358H
- Intel Core Ultra 5 X338H
These CPUs are rumored to feature a mix of P-cores for gaming performance, E-cores for multi-threaded tasks, and LP cores for energy efficiency, along with Xe2 GPU cores for integrated graphics. For example, the higher-end X338H, X368H, and X358H models reportedly have four P-cores, eight E-cores, four low-power E-cores, and 12 Xe2 GPU cores. The Core Ultra 5 X338H is expected to offer slightly fewer GPU cores at 10, along with a similar core configuration.
In addition to the Core Ultra X series, the leak also mentions four other gaming laptop CPUs without the X branding:
- Intel Core Ultra 9 375H
- Intel Core Ultra 7 355H
- Intel Core Ultra 7 345H
- Intel Core Ultra 5 325H
These chips are also expected to feature a combination of P-cores, E-cores, LP cores, and Xe2 GPU cores, making them suitable for mainstream gaming laptops.
The remaining four CPUs listed in the leak are targeted at lower-powered laptops. These models lack E-cores, making them less ideal for gaming but suitable for more affordable laptop models.
Panther Lake Production and Launch Timeline
There have been rumors about production challenges for Panther Lake, particularly related to Intel’s new 18A semiconductor manufacturing process. Despite this, Intel appears to be moving forward, with Videocardz reporting that further details on Panther Lake are expected later this week. Official specifications, however, may not be confirmed until early next year.
What This Means for Gamers
If these leaks are accurate, Intel’s Panther Lake lineup could provide a strong alternative to AMD’s high-performance laptop processors. With a combination of high-performance cores, energy-efficient cores, and integrated GPU improvements, these CPUs could redefine gaming performance for laptops.
For PC enthusiasts considering an upgrade, it’s worth keeping an eye on Intel’s announcements and comparing Panther Lake to AMD’s latest offerings to find the best gaming CPU for your setup.
