Ever since a few weeks ago, the internet is full of new rumors about the PlayStation 6. Even though the PlayStation 5 has been out for a little over two years, Sony already has big plans for when the next PlayStation console will come out. Fans won’t know about these plans for long, but it looks like Sony is going in a slightly different direction between the PS5 and PS6.
Tom Henderson, who has insider knowledge about PlayStation, says that Sony may not be planning a mid-generation upgrade for the PS5. As far as we know, there are no “Pro” versions of the PS5 being made. Instead, Sony is looking further ahead and getting ready for the next big step in technology with the PS6.

Expected Release Date of PlayStation 6
The internet is full of ideas and guesses about what the Sony PlayStation 6 will look like, but there has been no official news about new features or a release date. Even though we don’t know exactly what to expect from this much-anticipated console, we do know that the PlayStation 6 will change the way people play games.
No date has been given for the release, but we can figure it out from the samples. Years go by. Since the PS5 came out in November 2020, it’s safe to say that Sony’s PlayStation 6 won’t come out until 2027. We can look forward to a new PlayStation that is not the Sony PlayStation 6. Instead, we can look forward to a PS5 Slim or Pro.
Expected Features of PlayStation 6
It’s time for Sony to make changes to its console, whether it’s the PS6, PS5 Pro, or Slim. We’d like to see the new PS6 get smaller and less bulky, get rid of wireless USB drives, and add more storage space inside. Just a few of the things that fans must have. We expect the brand-new PlayStation 6 to have the following features:
VR Integration
At the moment, you have to buy a separate device and hook it up to your computer and console to play virtual reality games. If Sony puts motion controllers and a headset in the box with the console, it might be called PS6. You never know when. It has to do with games.

Built-in WiFi
Modern PlayStations can already connect to the internet wirelessly, but we’re talking about the top of the console or an arm that can be extended and used to charge accessories. Bring your phone, headphones, game controllers, or any other device that can be charged wirelessly.
Even though it might seem strange at first, it would be great if we could use the PS6’s always-on connection to charge our everyday devices (and PS6 controllers). If you connect the wireless adapter of the headset to the console, you won’t need the Dual Sense charging station or the wireless USB dongle.
Memory Growth
If the PS5’s built-in hard drive isn’t big enough for your needs, you can add more storage, but it’s not easy to do. If Sony makes the PS6’s insides easier to get to, it will be easier to switch out the hard drive for something more useful, like hard drive B. Via a plug-and-go model. You can, of course, use an external drive, but it won’t have the same read speeds as your NVMe SSD. Its SSD with a large capacity is fine for most people, unless there is a new way to upgrade it.
Module Upgrade
When the PlayStation is broken up into smaller pieces, each part can be replaced with a new one if it breaks or if it needs to be upgraded. It’s a waste of time to play through the series in order. Tom’s Guide says that Sony should make it easier for people to buy games in the same series. Or at least put the series on a list with some information about it so that it can find its place among the other remakes and re-releases. Digital dedicated console
Digital Console
Disc less consoles like the PS5 Digital Edition and Xbox Series S aren’t for everyone, just like phones without charging ports or headphone jacks, but they may be heading in that direction. If you like to collect physical games and movies, you probably won’t be happy with a PS6 that doesn’t support discs. However, if you have fast internet and tend to stream everything, you’ll want to keep this drive full for 10 minutes. would at least like to do it one day. It makes sense.
Best Backwards Compatibility
We want to buy a game that will keep us busy for a long time. The PS6 should be able to play games from older consoles, ideally all the way back to the first-generation PlayStation.
Updated User Interface
It’s not unusual for a new version of any technology to have a different user interface, especially if it’s a console that gets updated every five years. The PlayStation Store will be changed, which should make it easier to use. The built-in web browser on older PS consoles might be easier to use now. The PS5 has it, but it is hard to find.

In general, though, you can expect a PlayStation with a faster and more powerful CPU and easier-to-use controls. The most recent game consoles cost between $400 and $500. No one knows what kind of hardware, extra features, or improvements the next PlayStation could have that would change its price. Think that it could cost up to $600 for now.

Obviously, it’s important to say that all of this is just a rumor right now, so don’t put too much stock in what’s been said. Sony’s plans for the PS6 are probably not at all set in stone, so a lot could change in the years to come about what has been said. Still, if what has been said is true, it would be interesting to know how Sony feels about the PS5 and the switch to the PS6 in the future.
Henderson says that Sony thinks the PS5 hasn’t reached its full potential yet, which is why they made this decision. So, instead of making a new console with even better specs, Sony thinks developers can still find more ways to use the PS5 right now.
