If your refund request is approved, you will get your money back in a week. The money will be returned to your Steam Wallet or your original payment method, whichever you choose. Any refund requests that are denied by Steam will have the entire amount refunded to their steam wallets, regardless of the reason for the denial. Policy on Steam Refunds
If certain criteria are fulfilled, Steam, like the majority of digital retailers, allows refunds. In this case, you have the option of returning the game for a refund if it fulfils the requirements.
For games that do not fit these criteria, you may be out of luck, but contact Steam customer service nonetheless to see if they can assist you out with a refund request.
What Steam says about refunds is as follows:

Upon acceptance, you will get a refund for the entire amount of your transaction within one week. The money will be returned to your Steam Wallet or your original payment method, whichever you choose. Steam will credit your Steam Wallet with the entire amount if it is unable to provide a refund to your original payment method for whatever reason.
What Situations Call for a Refund?
Within two weeks of purchase, and with no more than two hours of gameplay, Steam will return your money. This offer applies to both software and games purchased through the Steam shop. For other kinds of transactions, refunds operate a little differently.

The main limitation for refunds:
- The game must have been bought within the past two weeks and played for less than two hours total to be eligible for a refund
- DLC material is not exempt from the rules stated above (it must have been purchased within the last two weeks and you must have played the game less than 2 hours since you purchased the DLC)
- You may get a refund on in-game purchases for up to 48 hours after making them, as long as you haven’t used, changed, or transferred them in any way.
For what reason is it possible to return a Steam game?
Steam’s refund policy isn’t intended to let you obtain free games in exchange for your money.
Many reasons exist for wanting to return a game, including the fact that it doesn’t function properly on your system, you bought it inadvertently, or you just don’t like it. Even if a game goes on sale soon after you purchase it, you may get a refund.
However, if Valve suspects that you are abusing the system, it may cease providing refunds to you in the future.

How to Get a Steam Game Refund
You are entitled to a refund if you satisfy the following criteria. Here’s how to go about it:
Log in to your Steam account at help.steampowered.com.
- To make a purchase, choose “Make a Purchase.”
- Click on the name of the game or other product for which you want a refund if you can’t find it. Note that if the game or other item does not appear on this list, the refund period has already expired for it.
- Make a decision as to why you need a refund on the product.
- There is an option to seek a refund when you click it.
- When prompted, choose whether you want your money returned to your Steam Wallet or the original payment method.
- Once you’ve done so, look for an email confirmation from PayPal confirming your refund request. It’s possible that you won’t hear anything about your return for a few days.
Is Steam’s Refund Policy Reasonable?
Early on in Steam’s history, refund policies were hazy, and customer support was sluggish. Steam’s new fair refund policy makes requesting a refund fast and simple.
Even though many people believe Epic Games Store’s service to be better, Steam has a refund policy that is similar to that of the Epic Games Store.
